Identifier allowing a distinction to be made between between the different kinds of purchase order in the SAP system.
Use
For example, by means of the order type you can differentiate between a standard purchase order and a stock transport order, even though both documents belong to the document category "purchase order".
The order type controls the number assignment of a purchase order and determines which fields you must maintain.
