Definition
The scale basis is the base value that the system uses to determine the valid scale level of a condition.
The additional scale basis is the difference amount that is necessary to reach a different scale level than the one determined on the strength of the actual (current) business volume data.
Example
Assume the condition record is valid from 01.01. to 12.31. of the year, and a scale in the following form has been agreed:
Business volume (purchases) Retrospective volume rebate
From $100,000 1%
From $200,000 2%
From $300,000 3%
As at November 15, purchases worth a cumulative value of $190,000 have been made. As at this date, in accordance with a scale or condition basis of $190,000, this yields a rebate income of $1,900. If additional purchases worth $10,000 or $110,000 were to be made (additional scale basis), rebate incomes of $4,000 or $9,000 would be achieved on condition bases of $200,000 or $300,000 respectively.
This would be equivalent to additional incomes of $2,100 or $7,100 respectively, compared with the current situation.
If this projection is based on actual business volume data, you should note that open purchase orders may exist. These are not taken into account in the projection because the updating of business volume data only takes place upon invoice receipt.
