Definition
A planning period is the smallest closed unit of a fiscal year in which plan data can be entered and stored in the SAP System.
The plan data, as a rule, is entered for a period interval (such as a quarter or the entire fiscal year) and is divided among the planning periods with the help of distribution keys.
