Definition
This indicator controls whether you can enter classes as "placeholders" for this item.
In the BOM, you assign a resulting item category to class items. This allows you to enter data that is relevant to the resulting item category (for example, production data for stock items).
Dependencies
In configurable material BOMs, you can enter a class for selectable items. Either materials and documents can be classified in the class.
When you assign characteristic values while configuring the BOM, the class node is replaced with the object that has the same characteristic values as the configuration. This makes BOMs with many variants easier to maintain because you do not have to enter and assign a selection condition to all items manually.
