Definition
Alphanumeric key uniquely identifying a class in a class type.
Use
This function is of relevance only to the industry material master, not to the retail article master.
You can use this class to extend the industry material master to include a subscreen on which you can maintain the characteristics of the class as additional fields. For this subscreen to appear in the material master, you must assign it to a data screen of your choice.
Procedure
Decide where you want to maintain the characteristics (that is, on which data screen and whereabouts on the screen), and assign the subscreen SAPLMGD1 3210 to the data screen accordingly. You do this in Customizing for the Material Master in the activity Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence. Make sure that the data screen contains the maintenance status C for classification, and assign it to this screen if necessary.
For technical reasons, the data screen you choose must not contain subscreens on which long texts can be maintained (such as SAPLMGD1 2121).
Example
Your screen sequence contains the data screen Basic Data 1, on which you want to include the characteristics subscreen. The maintenance status K for basic data is presently assigned to this data screen. You must now assign it the maintenance status C in addition.
Note
If you access a screen with the maintenance status C when you create a material master record, the maintenance status C is assigned to the material master record, irrespective of whether you assigned values to the characteristics, or not.
Make sure that the user(s) are authorized to maintain classification data (authorization object M_MATE_STA), and that the user department Classification is assigned to the material type.
Examples
Dependencies
When you create a material master record using a reference material, remember that the data for the views you create is copied from the reference material, including the classification data if you create the view containing the characteristics subscreen.
It is not possible to maintain characteristics when scheduling the creation or changing of a material master record.
The characteristics are not displayed when displaying a material master record at a key date.
