Definition
Identifies a summarization hierarchy or a cost object hierarchy.
Use
- Summarization hierarchies are used in the information system to summarize costs (such as planned costs and actual costs) by level. This enables evaluations at higher levels such as plants, products, or profit centers.
- Cost object hierarchies are used in repetitive manufacturing and process manufacturing to collect actual costs (such as inventory differences or production activities) at a higher level in cases where collection at the order level is not possible or not desired.

The hierarchy structures for order and project summarization are defined in customizing. For each hierarchy ID, you specify how the separate hierarchy levels are structured.
For cost object summarization, the hierarchy structure is specified in the pre-defined hierarchy ID. This hierarchy ID has to be generated during the first installation.
