Definition

Method which is used in the derivation step.

You can choose from the following derivation types:

  • Derivation rule
    Derivation rules are "if-then" rules, in which you specify which combinations of characteristic values will yield which target characteristic values.
  • Table lookup
    Table lookups let you determine characteristic values by having the system read them from any table. The source fields must correspond to the key of the table where you want the system to find the target value.
  • Moves
    A "move" lets you move the content of any source field or a constant to any target field.
  • Clear
    A "clear" lets you delete a characteristic value (reset to " " (blank) for CHAR fields or "0" for NUMC fields).
  • Customer enhancement
    You can use component 003 of customer enhancement "COPA0001" to define your own derivation logic. This enhancement can be inserted anywhere in the derivation strategy, even in more than one place. For more information, see the documentation on this enhancement.
  • Customer hierarchy
    If you use customer hierarchy characteristics in the data structures of your operating concern, you need to create a derivation step "Customer hierarchy" in your derivation strategy in order to determine the relevant characteristic values.
