Documentation
Definition
Organizational unit storing a group of cost elements.
Use
You can define any number of cost element groups for valuation, planning, and allocation purposes as part of master data maintenance for Cost Element Accounting or Cost Center Accounting. You can also arrange cost element groups in further groups, creating a cost element hierarchy.
Example
You use a cost element group for reporting purposes, or for processing multiple cost elements in a single transaction.
If you want to execute reports using selection variants, you can enter the name of the selection vraiant when you call up a report, instead of specifying a cost element group.
Supplementary Documentation - KAGRU 0001
Use
In primary cost planning/revenue planning, you can plan a cost element/ revenue element or a group of cost elements/revenue elements.
You plan cost element groups/revenue elements groups when you want quick access to all cost elements and revenue elements in your cost center for planning purposes.
By planning cost element groups/revenue groups, you have the advantage of not having to fill the in the intial screen for each cost element/ revenue element.
Procedure
You can either use a single value, an interval or a group.
Revenue element groups are maintained as cost elements (cost element type 11) in the master data. They are also treated as cost elements.

Dependencies
If you work using a cost object hierarchy enter the cost element group in the cost element group field. This is the group that the system accesses when calculating target costs (if the system cannot determine the target costs directly (based on a cost element)).
Example:
You posted costs under cost element 410000 to a cost object node belonging to a cost object hierarchy. You want to distribute these actual costs to the product cost collector assigned to the cost object node. No costs are posted under this cost element to the product cost collector assigned to this cost object node. Cost element 41000 is assigned to cost element group "Material". The product cost collector assigned to the cost object node was debited with actual costs under different cost elements that are assigned to the cost element group "material". The system now determines the target costs for the cost element group "material" and distributes the costs posted under cost element 410000 to the assigned cost objects, in line with these target costs.
