Definition
The drilling indicator attribute may be assigned to any cost object type.
'X' = Drilling
' ' = Non-drilling
The drilling indicator is used to indicate that a cost object represents a drilling activity. Cutback can be configured to assign a different billing indicator to drilling cost centres and project postings so that they may be identified by Carried Interest Partner Netting.
The drilling indicator is also used by the Payroll Burden Clearing program for U.S. companies to determine "drilling" cost objects. If a record in the JV summary ledger (Cutback ledger) has a "drilling" cost object and a "drilling" account (as indicated by an entry in the special cost element table for cost calculations), then the cost on that record will have the drilling rate applied to it for payroll burden clearing.
