Documentation
Definition
The validity date of the cash flow is the date upto which discounting is carried out within the NPV calculation. The validity date is therefore the date,
- on which the NPV of the margin is calculated
- used to determine the opportunity interest rate
- on which the zerobond discounting factors are determined
Use
On a certain validity date there may be several cash flows for a bank transaction. These are differentiated by the cash flow category; with partial outpayments the cash flow categories might be commitment cash flow and settlement cash flow, for example.
