Definition
Used in the form of an indicator (in Customizing) in connection with activity or settlement types (see: document entry). As soon as the activity/settlement type is flagged as relevant to document entry, we can refer to it as an activity type.
Example
"In operation" is an activity type and a settlement type. In other words, it is both entered in the document and taken into account in settlement.
"Shutdown" is a settlement type but not an activity type (it does not involve any effective output or performance). As it is used solely in settlement, you should lock it against document entry (do not set the "document entry" indicator).
