Documentation
Definition
The challan number is the proof of payment of withholding tax to Government. For the Extended Withholding Tax solution for India, there are two challan numbers:
- The challan number is first internally generated for the section code and TDS section, while running the program to pay withholding tax.
- On receipt of bank's acknowledgement of the tax remittance, the bank challan number is updated. The bank challan number is taken into account while printing certificates and annual returns.
