Definition
The release specification designates the partner system.
For non-SAP systems this specification is irrelevant.
For SAP products, the release specification is indispensable for controlling the connection. Normally a specification of the update level is sufficient.
Example
If you are using Release 3.5g the release specification should be 3.5 to ensure that the entire control need not be adapted each time a new maintenance level (3.5h, 3.5i ...) is imported.
