Definition

This indicator controls how billing is carried out with regard to admitted patients who are temporarily absent from your healthcare facility at the time of interim billing. If a start date for the absence is stored in the system when the interim billing run is carried out, but the patient's return date has not yet been entered (with the status Actual), interim billing is carried out for the patient up to the start date of the absence, provided you have set this indicator.

If you have specified that the start date of an absence is billable, the day on which the absence begins is used as the interim billing date. If the start date of an absence is not billable, the day prior to the start date is used as the interim billing date.

Notes

  • This minimizes the creation of invoices that frequently have to be cancelled.
  • Setting this indicator does not result in extended services being automatically adjusted for an absence in Patient Billing. When a patient goes on a "leave of absence", the validity period of the services has to be delimited in service entry. You can use the RNAABW00 program for this purpose.
