Definition

The tax code specified in this field stands for a tax category, which has to be taken into account for the tax return to the tax authorities.

The tax codes are unique for each country. For every tax code, the tax rate and further features are stored in the system.

Procedure

For transactions that are exempt from tax or which cannot be taxed, tax codes with the percentage rate 0 are to be used if the respective transactions are to be displayed in the tax returns.

If the tax rates are changed by law, new tax codes have to be defined. The old tax codes with the old tax rates must be kept until no open items which use this tax code exist anymore.
