Definition
The ranking order of the insurance relationship specifies with which priority the insurance relationship should be selected for creating requests for insurance verification.
The lower the ranking order, the higher the priority of the insurance relationship.
At least one insurance relationship must exist with a ranking order.
The ranking order should be assigned sequentially, but it does not need to be continuous.

If requests for insurance verification are generated, the attempt is first made to allocate the services to the main health insurance company (AOK).
If this health insurance company excludes certain services or services are only covered to a certain percentage, it is attempted to allocate these services or the missing percentage to the health insurance company with the next highest ranking order. Services which are neither covered by AOK nor NOVA are allocated to the self-pay patient insurance relationship which has the lowest ranking order.
