Definition

The rank of the insurance relationship specifies with which priority the insurance relationship should be selected for creating insurance verification requests.
You can specify a ranking order between 1 and 99, where 1 represents the highest rank (priority) and 99 the lowest.

You have to specify a rank for at least one insurance relationship.
The ranking order should be assigned sequentially, but need not be consecutive.

If several insurance relationships exist for which no ranking order has been specified, the system assigns the lowest rank and therefore the lowest priority to these insurance relationships when determining insurance providers for the insurance verification process.
Consequently, these insurance relationships are equally ranked, and the determination of these insurance providers for the insurance verification process is carried out by chance; in other words the system determines the insurance provider that is next in the internal table.

Example

Insurance relationship        Ranking order
------------------------------------------------------------
MEDISHIELD        1
LONGLIFE        2
Self-payer        90

If insurance verification requests are generated, the system first attempts to assign the services to the main insurer (MEDISHIELD).
If this insurer excludes certain services, or if services are only partially covered, the system attempts to assign these services or the missing percentage of coverage to the insurer with the next lower rank (LONGLIFE).
Services that are neither covered by MEDISHIELD not LONGLIFE are assigned to the self-payer insurance relationship, which has the lowest rank within the ranking order.
