Definition
- If this is an organizational unit (OU), the field contains the OU identifier:
These identifiers appear in the headers of many Patient Management screens to show the OUs to which the patient is assigned.
The identifier of an OU must be unique within the higher-level OU in the organizational hierarchy.
The Set Up Identifiers function arranges the identifiers in the order defined for the organizational hierarchy.
- If this is a building unit, the field contains the building unit identifier:
The identifier serves to identify a building unit with respect to the OU to which it is assigned.
You can use the identifier when assigning a patient to a sickroom or a bed location. The identifier is output on many screens and lists due to a lack of space.
The identifier must be unique within the building units that are associated with the same OU.
When you assign the building unit to an OU, the system checks the identifiers and formats them to identify the building units.
