Definition
DRG Billing Geramny: Average Length of Stay Main Department/External Physician Department
The average length of stay (ALOS) corresponds to the length of stay on which the valuation relation is based with regard to the entire length of stay. It is billing-relevant for calculating discounts for patient transfers.
The ALOS is measured in days.
For certain flat rates per case, the average length of stay when care is provided by external physicians is different to that when care is provided by the main department.
