Definition
This field contains the patient's length of stay in hospital.
This length of stay is for information purposes only and does not meet any statistical requirements. It is calculated as follows:
- The first day of an absence is not counted
- The last day of an absence is counted
- The first day of a transfer is not counted
- The last day of a transfer is counted
- The discharge day is counted

Use
The system normally uses the data entered (e.g. table of operation) to calculate the estimated length of the patient's stay in the hospital.
For some patients, the physician specifies an alternative length of stay. In such cases, the system use the length of stay specified by the physician and should not calculate the length of stay.
Procedure
Please enter a length of stay here if an alternative length of stay exists. Note that the content of the specified length of stay is not checked.
