Definition

For the sequence number of the surgical procedure code, this is an internal technical key that uniquely identifies a procedure code for all cases.

The key provides no information about the entry sequence nor the type of the procedure code. It is any series of characters.
This technical key cannot be assigned externally.

The number range interval for the sequence number of the procedure code should lie between 0000000001 and 8999999999. The interval 9000000000 to 9999999999 must not be used, since it would result in errors in the transaction. For more information about this, see the documentation for the technical number ranges in the IS-H Implementation Guide.

The Reference Number of the Surgical Procedure Code allows you to assign an existing procedure code to another procedure code.

Example

The Reference Number of the Surgical Procedure Code allows you to assign a customer-specific single-quantity procedure code (with quantity and unit of measure) to the official summary procedure code from the relevant valid surgical procedures catalog.
