Definition
By setting this this parameter you specify that the system is to determine flat rates per case/procedures surcharges using only ICPM codes of exactly one movement of a case.
Thus, you prevent the system from determining flat rates per case or procedures surcharges that are based on a combination of ICPM codes that cannot be assigned to a single surgical procedure.
Note
Given the following condition, however, the system cannot successfully determine the desired result for the movement-related FR/PS determination:
If several appointments are required for a surgery and if you enter the ICPM codes individually for each of these appointments, the system cannot determine any flat rates per case or procedures surcharges that refer to the combination of the ICPM codes.
If you do not select this indicator, the system takes into account all ICPM codes of a case, including even those codes that were entered for different surgeries.
Note
If you want the system to determine flat rates per case or procedures surcharges irrespective of the movement, you should not set the Spec indicator. With this setting the system issues all flat rates and procedures surcharges it can determine, that is, all flat rates and procedures surcharges relating to combinations of ICPM codes as well as those relating to individual ICPM codes.
Also refer to the documentation on the Spec indicator.
Recommendation
Select this indicator to restrict FR/PS determination to the ICPM codes of just one movement respectively.
Example
The parameter is not set (i.e. FR/PS determination independent of movement):
- 1st surgery appointment: ICPM: 1-275.0 (PS 21.01 is to be charged for)
- 2nd surgery appointment: ICPM: 1-275.0 and 8-837.0 (PS21.02 is to be charged for).
In this example the system would determine the procedures surcharge 21.02 for both instances since all ICPM codes are used for the search irrespective of movements and therefore the more specific entry 21.02 is taken to determine the result.
If the Spec indicator is not set, the system does not stop determining the procedures surcharge when finding a specific entry but also proposes the less specific entry 21.01 (without combination).
