Definition

The cost weight specifies the costs of a DRG.

The cost weight of a DRG service is specified in relation to a reference service with the value 1.0. Multiplication by the base rate gives the absolute costs of a DRG.

The field is updated by grouping.

Use

This field contains the effective cost weight of a case.

The system calculates the effective cost weight as follows:
Cost weight +/- (surcharge/discount relation x surcharge/discount days)

Dependencies

For readmission cases, the system also uses all preceding cases to calculate the DRG key figures.
The value therfore shows the full view of the underlying DRG up to the selected case.
