General
If IDocs are converted to EDI standards, this field contains the reference number of the EDI message.
Outbound IDocs:
The EDI subsystem accepts the outbound IDoc and converts it to an EDI message. It transfers the associated number to the SAP System via a status confirmation. The SAP System then transfers the number from the relevant status record to the control record of the IDoc.
Inbound IDocs:
The EDI subsystem transfers the message number to the SAP System as part of the control record.
