General
If IDocs are converted to EDI standards, this field contains the number of the file in the EDI subsystem in which the EDI message was transmitted.
Outbound IDocs:
The EDI subsystem accepts the outbound IDoc and converts it to an EDI message that is transferred in a file. It transfers the associated file number to the SAP System via a status confirmation. The SAP System then transfers the number from the relevant status record to the control record of the IDoc.
Inbound IDocs:
The EDI subsystem transfers the file number to the SAP System as part of the control record.
