General

If IDocs are converted to EDI standards and EDI message groups used, this field contains the reference number of the EDI message group to which the EDI message belongs.

Outbound IDocs:
The EDI subsystem receives the outbound IDoc and converts it to an EDI message belonging to an EDI message group. It transfers the associated group number to the SAP System via a status confirmation. The SAP System then transfers the number from the relevant status record to the control record of the IDoc.

Inbound IDocs:
The EDI subsystem transfers the group number to the SAP System as part of the control record.

This field should remain blank if no message groups are used.
