Definition

The reference key as used here is used to set up a connection between the document on the sender side and the one on the receiver side. Consequently, it is seen to be analogous to the intercompany number, as is created with intercompany postings within a system.

The reference key has the following structure here:

  1. 10 characters: Document number in the managing company code on the sender side
  2. 6 characters: cross-system company code identifier of the managing company code on the sender side
  3. 4 characters: Fiscal year in the managing company code on the sender side

This number is automatically assigned by the system. If this number is the same on the sender and the receiver side (for example, display with FB03), it is a document pair which resulted from the entry for external systems.
