Definition
A business scenario contains a number of business objects that can be arranged hierarchically. Business objects are assigned to hierarchy levels. Objects that do not have any other objects superior to them in the hierarchy are in hierarchy level 1.
Each hierarchy level is identified by a unique key characteristic. The system determines the hierarchy level of an object by means of this key characteristic.
Example
The CRM Service business scenario contains the business objects: transaction and transaction item. A transaction item is subordinate to a transaction. Transactions are therefore in hierarchy level 1, and transaction items are in hierarchy level 2.
Hierarchy level 1 is assigned to the key characteristic of transactions (transaction number). Hierarchy level 2 is assigned to the key characteristic of the transaction items (item number).
