Definition
The date under which the document is recorded in accounting or cost accounting
Use
The fiscal year and the period, for which the accounts or cost elements designated in the document are updated, are derived from the posting date.
During document entry, the system checks whether the specified posting date is permissible on the basis of the allowed posting period.
Note
The posting date can be different than both the entry date (day recorded in the system) and the document date (day the original document was issued).
