Definition
This indicator defines the country from which the legal regulations originate and specifies the 'origin' of the legal regulations.
Use
Within the function of checking bills of material in the area of legal control, this country is used for determinining the value percentages of materials relevant for export control. This applies to materials which are part of a bill of material.
Specific legal regulations require not only a check whether materials are complete but also, under certain circumstances, a check of the main component of bills of material - even if the main component is not relevant for export control.
Example
For the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR):
A bill of material of a Japanese producer contains materials with the country of origin US. The materials are listed in the US Commerce Control List and have an Export Control Classification Number (ECCN). The country of origin of the EAR is 'US'.
In order to determine the value percentage of the total value of the bill of material, the system considers all materials within the bill of material which are relevant for export control according to the material master and have the country of origin 'US'.
