A device is a piece of equipment in the Plant Maintenance (PM) application component.

The device can only be indentified by

• the equipment number in PM
• the device number and the
  device category number, according to the
  following:

  Device number = serial number in PM

  Device category number =
  material number in the component Materials Management (MM)
