Definition
Specifies the type of export license used.
Use
Export regulations in each country are covered by a set of export licenses. Each of these export licenses has its own distinguishing characteristics. In the SAP System, you can use the license type to distinguish between export licenses.
Example
The German legal system includes the following export licenses:
- Einzelausfuhrgenehmigung (EAG) (individual export authorization)
This license covers the export of a specified product for a specified customer up to a specified amount. You require this type of license to ship products that are subject to strict export control.
- Sammelausfuhrgenehmigung (SAG) (collective export authorization)
This license covers several materials and several customers. This means you do not have to apply for a separate license for each export transaction involving the same material but different customers.
The US legal system includes the following export licenses:
- General licenses (GL)
This is the most commonly used license type. It is issued for a specified material. The exporter can issue this type of license without submitting it to the proper authorities after checking that it is appropriate for the material and the destination country.
- Validated licenses (VL)
This type of license is issued for a specified material and value. The exporter must apply to the authorities for a validated license.
- ITAR licenses
This license is required for export transactions involving arms.
Note
The following consequences arise for export control when you specify the product classification by country of destination in the relevant IMG object:
- For characteristics not requiring a license, NO license type is necessary. You must include the actual entry, however, because export control removes blocks in missing country/grouping combinations.
- If you maintain an entry with license type for a country of destination, the system determines this license type when checking export control, then chooses an appropriate license.
- If you maintain an entry with license type using a BLANK, the system will regard the material to be checked for the country of destination as one not requiring a license. The material is then checked and recognized as irrelevant for an export license.
- If you do not maintain an entry for a country of destination, the system blocks the document item because of the missing data.
