Definition
Identifies a demand influencing factor (DIF).
If you maintain this field then additional DIF occurences are created with this DIFID. This should normally be a DIFID with type 'I' (Ignore Historical Value). The DIFID cannot be checked in SAP R/3 (whether type nor existence) and must therefore be existing in SAP F&R. If the DIFID does not exist in SAP F&R a failure will occure.
The following description for the DIFID is from SAP F&R.
A demand influencing factor occurrence may be recurring or have a value that changes over time. By referring to a previous DIF occurrence or past DIF values, and a requirement time series, the system can draw conclusions about the influence of future DIF occurrences or about the influence of DIF occurrences whose values will change in the future. In this way, the system can improve the accuracy of the demand forecast.
General examples of demand influencing factors are:
- Retail promotions
- Vacations and public holidays
- Price changes
Only those events that have a similar influence on demand may be grouped into one demand influencing factor. For example, Easter and Christmas are both public holidays, but they have a different influence on demand.
