Documentation
Definition
If you maintain this field then DIF occurences are created with this weighting profile. The weighting profile Id cannot be checked in SAP R/3 (whether type nor existence) and must therefore be existing in SAP F&R. If the weighting profile does not exist in SAP F&R a failure will occure.
The following description for the weighting profile is from SAP F&R.
Two different weighting profiles exist:
" Weekly profile:
A weekly profile is a weighting profile for consumption during a week. Weighting factors for the individual days of the week specify how the consumption is distributed across the week. Weekly profiles are used to break down calculated, weekly-based forecast values to individual days.
" Event Profile:
An event profile is a weighting profile for the consumption during a specific event. Weighting factors specify how the consumption is distributed for the duration of the event. In contrast to the weekly profile, the event profile is not limited to a certain length of time (7 weighting factors).
Use
The following description for the weighting profile is from SAP F&R.
The forecast algorithms in SAP F&R calculate a forecast by taking into account regular, weekly-based DIFs that can be broken down into daily values in a subsequent step. These daily values are then used in the requirements calculation and requirements quantity optimization. Daily values are calculated from the weekly values using weighting profiles for the week (weekly profiles).
In SAP F&R 4.1, these weekly profiles can be calculated dynamically, or are specified statically. Both the dynamic weekly profiles and the static weekly profile show how consumption is distributed across a week.
In SAP F&R 5.0 it will be possible to replace the dynamic and static weekly profiles above for a certain period and certain location products or locations with profiles defined externally.
" A weighting profile is used as a time-dependent weekly profile. It is used in the same way as a static weekly profile for all weeks in the relevant period.
" A weighting profile is used as an event profile; this means that the profile pattern applies for the duration of an event, irrespective of the day on which the event starts and finishes, and how many weeks it lasts. If necessary, several different weekly profiles are generated for the forecast and the requirement calculation from this event profile.
