Documentation
Definition
The cohort identifies a group of loans made that have similar characteristics. It is a two-digit numeric field that is reported to Treasury through the FACTS II process. It usually contains the last two digits of the fiscal year in which the obligations for the loans were recorded, but it could contain a different number (not the year) if OMB requires your agency to track it differently.
The cohort must be associated with ALL accounts in a fund and there can be multiple values. This means that it must be possible to enter a cohort for all types of transactions.
For most funds, the field is filled with 00 as the default because it is not needed. It has other values in a credit reform financing fund for a loan program.
