Definition
Controls the balance carried forward within the framework of the closing operations of the fiscal year change.
Use
If you are working with funds and have allocated budget, you can carry forward the balance of the actual values of postable commitment items (account assignment items) at the fiscal year change, into the new year.
The indicator defines to which carryforward commitment item the balance of the previous year is transferred to in the following year.
In doing so, you are able to summarize the balance of actual values of commitment items from the previous year in one or several carryforward commitment items of the following. By defining several carryforward item categories you can get a summarization of commitment items according to certain logical viewpoints.

You can only store a carryforward item category in the master record of a postable commitment item.
The carryforward item category must be defined in the Customizing of Funds Management.
The balance carryfoward is only executed for funds in the system that have the Balance update indicator set.
