Definition

Classifies different types of items, that require different processing by the system.

Use

When creating a shipment cost document, the system determines the item categories of the items automatically.
If you create an item manually, you can specify the item category yourself.

Procedure

In Customizing, you can define item categories and set their automatic determination when the shipment cost document is created.

Examples

You can mark an item category as relevant for settlement. The system then recognises an item for which account assignment must be carried out and which must be forwarded to financial accounting.
