Definition
This number is required for electronic data exchange between the partners involved in a business transaction and the customs authorities, for example, EDV/ZOLL in Austria or ATLAS in Germany.
This number means that the goods have been imported with a valid preference document.
Example
Importing goods from Switzerland into the European Community:
If goods are imported with a EUR1 document, no customs duty will be levied.
Importing goods from India into the European Community:
If goods are imported with a FORM_A document (document from the General System of Preferences (GPS) ), the customs authorities levy a reduced customs duty as soon as these goods have been imported into the European Community.
