Definition

Certain functions can only be performed on a document, if the document has already been saved. For example, you cannot create an address list for a direct mailing unless the direct mailing has been saved. In the standard SAP system, when you initiate the creation of an address list in the create mode of a direct mailing, the system first of all saves the direct mailing without checking the completeness of the document. It then switches to change mode and displays the initial screen for address list processing.

The exclude function code field enables to prevent the system from saving a document in the background before initiating a subsequent function. In our example of the address list in the direct mailing, activating the exclude function code field would prevent you from creating an address list before you save the direct mailing.

The system switches from create to change mode if you call the functions:

a) Create sales activity

  • BHC12 Send object
  • POTC Create potential planning
  • POTE Change potential planning

b) Create direct mailing

  • ADRLIST_CREATE Create address list immediately ADRLIST_CREATE_BATCH Create address list in the background
