Documentation
Definition
An event denotes an operative business process and is assigned to exactly one application (information system).
For example, the event "Order" is assigned to application 01 (Sales).
The event informs the BW or the Logistic Information System (LIS) which data is delivered and in which application this data is to be processed.
Customer events must begin with "Y" or "Z".
Use
An event is required when defining the update of self-defined information structures.
During definition of the update, fields for the business process (event) are selected for the associated fields of the self-defined information structure.
For example, the field "Quantity in Stockkeeping Unit" from the "Order" event is assigned to the field "Order Quantity" in a self-defined information structure. As a result, the operative field "Quantity in Stockkeeping Unit" is updated in the "Order Quantity" field for every order in the self-defined information structure.
