Definition

Value for the maximum percentage of completion if the actual finish date is not yet maintained.

Use

The maximum percentage of completion (POC) is used in the following measurement techniques:

  • Estimation
  • Time proportionality
  • Quantity proportionality
  • Cost proportionality
  • Quantity proportionality
  • Actual = Plan
  • Degree of processing

As long as work has not been completed, that is, no actual finish date is known, the actual percentage of completion cannot exceed the maximum percentage of completion.

The maximum POC should prevent an overestimate of "almost finished" work, the so-called "90% syndrome".

We recommend that you use a maximum POC of 80% for the measurement technique estimates
