Documentation
Definition
Specifies the specification type.
Each specification type must be assigned to at least one specification category that categorizes the specifications into major groups (substances, agents, packagings, and so on).
Further minor groupings within specification categories are formed by specification types that determine which role a specification can assume in specification management. You can, for example, specify for each specification type which property trees are available for selection and whether materials can be assigned to a specification type.
Dependencies
If a special check function is defined for the specification type in Customizing, the system checks whether the specification key entered by the user for this specification type is syntactically correct.
Supplementary Documentation - ESESUBCAT 0001
Use
Every specification must be assigned to a specification type. You use the specification type to specify whether:
- Materials may be assigned to a specification
- The specification may be used a reference
- The specification key entered by the user is checked for syntactical errors using a specification key check function defined in Customizing
If the specification type is missing from the transfer file, then the SAP System assigns the imported specification the specification type defined as a standard value.

Use
Enter the specification types that you need in a specific subview in formula maintenance. A user may only use the specification types you assign here when he or she enters a substance or specification in a formula.
Procedure

Dependencies
The setting you make here is taken into account in the following formula views of the standard system:
View Subview
I/O substances Output (Output substances)
Input/Ingredient (Starting substances)
Composition Input/Ingredient (Ingredients)
This setting is also taken into account in user-defined views if you implement the corresponding check in the screen of the relevant function group (see Define Function Group for Formula View).
