Documentation
Definition
Specifies the way in which IDocs are transferred to the SAP System. This communication is implemented in different ways or so-called port types. The available port types also depend on the technical capabilities of the sending system.
Use
The port must be created in the port definition so that IDocs are accepted from the sending system (at least one port must be defined for each system with which communication is to take place).
Examples
- Most EDI subsystems transfer IDocs in the form of sequential files, i.e. the port type in this case is "file". The port can be called 'SUBSYSTEM', for example.
- An SAP system and R/2 System can only be linked directly via the CPI-C port type. The port can be called 'SAPK50', for example, where 'K50' is the R/2 System.
