Definition
Number which identifies the version of the segment definition of an IDoc type which is to be used.
Use
An IDoc type consists of segments. The IDoc interface uses segment types internally. It uses segment names for the interchange with the EDI subsystem (external), which are different to the segment type. A version defines the assignment of the internal segment type to the external segment name. It is therefore possible for earlier versions to be used for the interchange of IDocs, even if the segments have been changed and there is now a newer version.
If the field is assigned the initial value '0', the current version is used automatically. If you enter a version number in this field, it is used.
Examples
Two versions E2EDK1 (version 1) and E2EDK1A (version 2) were defined for the segment type E1EDK1. If you enter a 1 in the field Version, the version E2EDK1 is used. If you leave the initial value in the field ('0'), the version E2EDK1A is used.
