General

This field describes the hierarchy level to which the segment is assigned. A segment can only be used at one hierarchy level for each IDoc type.

The hierarchy level is determined as follows:

  1. Segments that do not have a higher-level parent segment, whose maximum frequency of use is 1 and which do not mark the start of a segment group are assigned to hierarchy level 1.
  2. Segments that do not have a higher-level parent segment, whose maximum frequency of use is greater than one or which mark the start of a segment group are assigned to hierarchy level 2.
  3. Segments that have a higher-level parent segment have a hierarchy level that is one higher than that of their parent segment.

The highest hierarchy level for a segment is 99.

IDoc interface

The EDI interface determines a value for the field from the EDISYN table if the field is empty. Otherwise, the value is checked.
