Definition

Combined with an IDoc type from the SAP standard version (a basic type) to create a new, upwardly-compatible IDoc type.

Use

IDoc development:

The extension is defined by the customer.

IDoc processing:

If an EDI subsystem is used, the subsystem should not modify the field CIMTYP.

  • Outbound IDocs: the application selection module maintains the field CIMTYP from the field PARTOUT (partner profile).
  • Inbound IDocs: the IDoc Interface checks whether the specified extension exists in combination with the specified basic type.

Dependencies

Earlier releases use a third field (DOCTYP) to identify the IDoc type. To remain compatible with these releases, all combinations of extensions and basic types which were defined before Release 4.0 can still be identified in field DOCTYP. However, if a new extension in Rel. 4.0 is to be switched with an older release, conversion tables which map IDOCTYP and CIMTYP onto DOCTYP (uniquely) must be maintained. For further information see the documentation on field DOCTYP
