Definition
The International Article Number (EAN) is an international standard number for the clear indication of a concrete material in a particular unit of measurement or packing type.
As a rule, the EAN is assigned by the manufacturer of the material. In this case, the EAN then also clearly identifies the manufacturer.
In other cases, the EAN can be assigned by means of various processes of instore numbering (see number type).
