The customer has an energy debt of 70 Dollars
The recovery rate for the energy debt is 3 Dollars.
The customer loads 10 Dollars onto his or her energy card. When this amount is transferred to the meter, 3 Dollars is used to pay off the energy debt while the remaining 7 Dollars is used for electricity or gas consumption.
The customer's energy debt is, therefore, reduced from 70 to 67 Dollars. The meter displays the new debt at 67 Dollars.
