Definition
The following scenario may arise in an environment test that is almost complete:
- You start with an installation, carry out the appropriate tests, and look for all the logical devices that belong to the installation. Appropriate tests are carried out for each logical device.
- The system then looks for all the installations (for every logical device) that have not yet been tested. More installations are often found.
- Using the nesting depth function, you can limit the mutual calling of individual environments to a specified value.
- At a nesting depth of 0 (infinite) the installations with all their logical devices are retested. As a result the environment becomes very large. Installations that are the same are however only tested once.
- Every entry that is checked during the environment test has a certain history. An entry is checked if it selected as the starting point for the environment test or if it is in the environment of another entry. The history of the entry specifies which environments have been tested on the path leading to the entry at hand.
Use
- For values > 0, an environment can be called as often as is specified in the nesting depth.
- For the value 0, the environment test continues until no new objects can be found.
