Documentation
Definition
An event indicates a business transaction from the operative processes and is assigned to exactly one application (information system).
For example, the event 'order' is assigned to application 01 (Sales and Distrbution).
The event informs the Logistics Information System (LIS) as to which data is being transferred and the application in which this data is to be processed.
User-specific events must begin with "Y" or "Z".
Use
The event is required in the updating definition of self-defined information structures.
In the updating definition, the system selects the fields of the business transaction (event) which correspond to the fields from your self-defined info structure.
For example, the field 'quantity in stockkeeping unit' from the event 'order' is assigned to the field 'order quantity' in a self-defined information structure. This causes the system to update the operative field 'quantity in stockkeeping unit' in the 'order quantity' field of your self-defined information structure whenever the event 'order' takes place.
